Esperanto-USA to hold Landa Kongreso in Montreal in 2020!
by: filipo (Phil Dorcas) president, Esperanto-USA (filipo@grupoj.org)
Esperanto-USA, which normally meets in its annual conference (Landa Kongreso) in the USA, will profit from the proximity of the World Esperanto Conference (Universala Kongreso) in Montreal, August 1 – 8, 2020.
This is a rare opportunity for Esperanto speakers of all levels to be among other Esperanto speakers from all over the world! Plan now to attend.
The planning team from Esperanto-USA is working with the team from Canada and with the team from the World Esperanto Association (UEA) to provide for us a grand event, which for many will be the chance of a lifetime.
Here is a picture of some of the planning team in Canada, together with Duncan Charters from the United States, who is the current president of UEA!

Esperanto-USA will hold its “Landa Kongreso” (LK) during sessions at the “Universala Kongreso” (UK). We will be holding our business meetings, inviting non-members to attend, and announcing the results of our annual election of officers.
For more information, visit https://esperanto2020.ca/ and register directly with UEA at https://uea.org/kongresoj

We don’t yet know costs as the contract with William Peace University hasn’t been finalized. We’ll get that information out as soon as possible. But now is a good time to mark your calendar, if you think you might be interested in attending.
Because the course is 5 days rather than 8, we’ll likely schedule some additional instructional time during the afternoons. Possibly short seminars on specific topics, conversation groups, small group work sessions, etc.

Conversational Esperanto, The International Language, is a class, and discussion group, that is open to Stanford students AND the general public. We meet Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the International Center on the Stanford University campus during the academic year (minus the usual holidays and breaks). This class is free if taken for no credit. Stanford students who would like to take the course for 2 credits per quarter may do so by jumping through many administrative hoops (please ask if you are serious). Students taking the class for credit must come to classes (of course) but everyone else is free to drop-in at any time. You can join the class any time during the year, but please contact me, via email (stanford@Esperanto.org) first, so i can schedule a time for you to experience my “Lesson Zero”!
